When planning a getaway with family or for yourself, lodge holidays often offer more relaxation and comfort than hotels. That being said, packing essential items ahead of time can make packing for your trip as stress-free as possible.

In some ways Lodge holiday essentials are no different than any self-catering trip you might take. Just be mindful of what you bring and make sure to check with the property owner for specifics; some places may provide more gear than others.

Kitchen Equipment
Most places provide some basics, but make sure you bring what you need. For instance, if travelling long distance, it might be wise to bring pre-cooked meals for dinner on the first night.

Clothes and shoes for your holiday
It is always wise to pack plenty of clothing for any weather conditions, particularly in wintertime. Additionally, bring along some warm socks and waterproofs just in case.

Entertainment
A cozy lodge is the ideal spot for some leisure activities, like playing cards, reading a book or watching a movie. If you’re bringing along board games, be sure to stack them neatly inside your suitcase or bag so they won’t take up too much room in your carry-on bag.

Strong walking boots or shoes
If you’re taking a day-long hike, investing in some sturdy hiking shoes or boots is recommended. Not only are these an excellent investment for protection when walking on rocks and mud, but they will also protect your feet from potential slips and injuries.
